Release V1
Created: 2022-02-12๐๐๐
Today I'm releasing v1.0.0 of Daily. It's done. Well it's at least at a point where I can stop myself from working on "just one more" feature. Find the downloads for Windows and macOS here:
https://downloads.project-daily.com
The project is not dead, but also not actively developed further. I'm maintaining it. Features mustn't be added for the sake of features.
Current Features
So what can Daily do today? It lets you in no particular order: Create blog posts, build those from text and image blocks, locally preview those posts, generate HTML of your content, publish the HTML to Vercel for hosting, configure a domain, generate a sitemap and a RSS feed. Work on drafts, while publishing other pages. Switch the app language from English to German (and back). Change the appearance of your site from light to dark (and back). Include an introductory text for you website. Keep your website "project" in a single file on your local machine. No account necessary, no network connection necessary. The project file can be opened on macOS and Windows. Create a bloat-free blog that instantly loads for your visitors. I think that's pretty OK for a side project. I am proud of myself.
Features Ideas
Some things I thought about implementing: More frame/block types (quotes, lists, tables, recipes, image galleries, charts you name it). Analytics for your site. Comments, replies, contact management. SEO metrics. Frame conversion รก la Notion (text to heading back to text again). Import content from various sources (markdown, spreadsheets, twitter threads, medium, Wordpress come to mind). Pinning of pages to the top. More customisation (fonts. colours, layout...). Tighter integration with Vercel. More exports and publishing options (Medium, Twitter, json, csv, spreadsheet). And a few more I'm keeping up the sleeve...you never know.
Feedback
If you do end up using Daily, please let me know. It really makes my day. If you have any issues REALLY let me know. I'm gonna make your day. Be nice.
